The Wake Forest Historical Museum will survey, rehouse, and catalog the museum's collection of an estimated 7,000 photographs and enter 750-1,000 priority images into its collection database. This project focuses on the preservation and identification of images to create a searchable collection database for the museum, and it will enable the museum to attain intellectual control over a significant proportion of its photograph collection. Documenting the cataloging process will foster improved training for museum staff and volunteers, while the enhanced, searchable system of digital records created will benefit the museum as well as researchers and other visitors. This grant will serve as a model for future work documenting and making the museum's holdings more accessible.
