Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art

The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art will replace an outdated collections database with a cloud-based collections management system and a digital asset management system. The platforms will improve the museum's management of the 11,600 objects in its care, track the location of the pieces, and improve its ability to curate in-house and traveling exhibitions. The museum will purchase the new systems, migrate data and existing digital images from the current collections database, and set up an in-house digital photo lab. The museum will also verify and update information on its collections and conduct basic condition assessments of all of its holdings. At the end of the grant period, the museum will have an integrated collections management system that will allow staff members to quickly reference reliable information on the objects in its collections, implement best practices in collections care, and increase its capacity to share its collections with the public, partnering institutions, artists, and scholars.
