Moore College of Art and Design (Levy Gallery for the Arts in Philadelphia)

The Galleries at Moore College of Art and Design will bring photographer Wendy Ewald’s nationally acclaimed “Literacy Through Photography” (LTP) program to Philadelphia for the first time to support Philadelphia’s citywide goal of improving literacy and providing arts access for school-age youth. The program will provide hands-on learning opportunities for Moore students and expand access to the arts in the broader Philadelphia community. At its core, the LTP program encourages children to explore their world as they photograph scenes from their own lives and then to use their images as catalysts for oral and written expression. Framed around four thematic explorations—self-portrait, community, family, and dreams—LTP provides children and teachers with the expressive and investigative tools of photography and writing for use in the classroom.
