Lorain Historical Society

The Lorain Historical Society will initiate an oral history project to collect and share stories of older adults and foster dialogue with area youth. The project builds upon two successful oral history projects focused on Lorain’s Latino and Black residents. The museum will contract with a multi-media design firm to develop a digital oral history kiosk that will feature approximately 76 short-form digital oral histories and accompanying photographs. Staff will make the archive available on a dedicated website, which will serve as a primary source for research purposes. The project will build organizational capacity and advance intergenerational knowledge for the benefit of museum visitors, local residents, scholars, educators, and students.
