Washington, DC—The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) announced today 11 awards totaling $1,336,274, matched with $1,550,095 of non-federal funds, for Museum Grants for African American History and Culture. IMLS received 35 applications requesting $3,985,103 in funds.
"The African American History and Culture grants have been strengthening museums in the United States since 2006," said IMLS Director Susan Hildreth. "I am proud to announce the 2013 recipients. With these grants, African American institutions will improve the care of their collections, provide professional training to staff, and expand career opportunities in the museum field through internships and fellowships.”
